Join us on our Volcanic Journey.

Our short documentary film, 'Volcanic Journey' is now streaming. This 12-minute short tells the story of the viticulturalists and geologists who are working to understand the volcanics of the West Coast of America.

Our story begins twenty years ago at nearly 3,000 feet in the high Mayacamas Mountains, and the film follows our path as we ventured northward to meet our neighbors in the volcanic vineyards of Oregon and Washington. Watch the film now.

Born on a volcano.

Twenty years ago, we planted a vineyard on an old abandoned walnut orchard, 2,875 feet high in the Mayacamas Mountains. We soon discovered that we were farming on a volcano, on a ridge of solid black Obsidian glass. Today, the extreme climate, altitude, and volcanics result in a wine like no other.

20 years of volcanic winemaking.

Since then, we’ve dedicated two decades to learning what makes volcanic wines unique and what is possible in this harsh environment. We learned that these wines are prized for their aromatics, acidity, and structure. We built a team of iconoclasts—each experts in their own craft—who share a strong ethos. We gained a better understanding of climate, soil, viticulture, winemaking, and hospitality.

50 years of family farming. Centuries of heritage.

We recently marked the 50th anniversary of our experience growing grapes, a tradition passed from our father who fled his native Hungary in 1956. We are the second generation building upon the work of the first, who planted our seaside Poseidon Vineyard in 1973. We returned to Hungary in 1992 to establish a cooperage in the Tokaj forest–today our wines are 100% estate, made and aged in our Hungarian Oak barrels.

Always ready for the next adventure.

Our story informs who we’ve always been and where we’re going. The greatest lesson we’ve learned is that our legacy is one of adventuring, and the best discoveries happen off the beaten path. This is where we find a global community of like minded travelers, who revel in the unfamiliar and thrill at the challenge of experimentation. This is where we continue to learn, grow, and appreciate the simple pleasures of good wine with good people in wondrous natural settings.
